Mayor The Mayor of Freemansburg is an elected official chosen by the voters of the Borough every four (4) years. Under the Pennsylvania Borough Code and other applicable state laws, the Mayor is vested with a variety of responsibilities, including oversight of the Police Department and Emergency Management Services, to help maintain public order and safety within the community.

Mayor Gerald C. Yob
Gerald C. "Jerry" Yob currently serves as Mayor of Freemansburg. A lifelong resident of the Lehigh Valley, Jerry was born and raised in Bethlehem, PA. He proudly served in the United States Army during the Korean War (1951–1953), spending 16 months stationed in Germany and achieving the rank of Sergeant.

Following his military service, Jerry returned home and began a distinguished career in local government. He served on the Freemansburg Borough Council from January 1966 to December 1977, and again from January 2018 to December 2021, including nine years as Council President.

He was first elected Mayor in 1982, serving continuously through 2017, and was re-elected in 2022, a testament to the trust and respect he has earned from the community.

With over 44 years in office, Jerry is one of the longest-serving mayors in Pennsylvania. His steady leadership has left a lasting impact on Freemansburg and its residents.

Legacy and Community Impact
Under Mayor Yob’s leadership, Freemansburg has seen significant infrastructure improvements, including enhancements to Main Street to increase traffic safety and flow.

He has also championed the development of public parks and community spaces, helping initiate projects such as the amphitheater and community center, which aim to bring residents together through local events and gatherings.

In recognition of his decades of service, the Borough Council named its largest park in his honor. The Gerald C. Yob Community Park spans over 9 acres and is located at the intersection of Freemansburg Avenue and Cambria Street. It stands as a symbol of his enduring contributions to the Borough.
